A TEENAGER was slashed after being pounced on by two men in a random attack in the east end of Glasgow.

The 17-year-old was on Gallowgate, close to a bus stop outside Morrisons, when he was targeted by the violent strangers.

The victim suffered a serious gash to his face and was rushed to hospital.

Police have described the assault, which took place at 10.35pm on Tuesday night, as "violent and unprovoked".

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed it, including those who were at the bus stop and leaving the nearby Heilan Jessie pub at the time, to contact them.

The first attacker is described as a white man, around 6 ft tall, with a skinny build.

He was wearing dark trousers, a dark hat and jacket and blue trainers.

The second is described as a white man, also around 6 ft tall, with a slim but muscular build.

He was wearing dark trousers, with a dark hat and jacket.

Detective David Lamb from London Road CID said today: “This appears to have been a violent and unprovoked attack which left the victim with a significant injury.

“We know from our enquiries that a number of people may have witnessed the incident as they left the Heilan Jessie pub.

"We are keen to speak to a white man described as 50-60 years old. He was wearing a dark jacket and had grey hair."

"I’m also keen to speak to a white woman in her late 30’s with shoulder length brown hair. It’s possible the woman was wearing a light coloured body-warmer who was at the bus stop at the time of the assault and later provided first aid."

He added: "If this matches your description I would ask that you get in contact.

"You may have witnessed the attack or may have seen the direction the suspects ran off in.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and witnessed what happened to get in touch.

"The information you have may not seem like much, but as part of our broader investigation, it could make all the difference in tracing the men responsible.
