RANGERS midfielder Jordan Thompson has extended his loan deal with Airdrieonians until the end of the campaign.

The former Manchester United kid made two appearances for Mark Warburton’s side against Alloa and Dumbarton earlier this term but made a temporary switch in search of first team football.

Thompson has made a positive impression since moving to Lanarkshire earlier this month and he will now look to help the Diamonds clinch promotion to the Championship this term.

He scored in the 3-1 win over Cowdenbeath on his second appearance for the club and also has two assists to his name for the League One outfit.

Thompson will miss the Monklands derby against Albion Rovers this weekend, however, as he joins up with the Northern Ireland Under-19s for their European Championship qualifiers for matches against Poland, Holland and Ukraine.

The 19-year-old will re-join Danny Lennon’s squad next month for the clash with Stranraer and will look to shine for the Diamonds between now and the end of the campaign.
