THE BROTHER of tragic shopkeeper Asad Shah 'humbled' by messages of support for his family.

The 40-year-old died outside his Shawlands shop last week, following a street attack.

Hours earlier he had wished Christians a 'Happy Easter' in a social media post, and he had previously appeared to speak out against extremism.

His brother, a personal trainer, paid tribute to him online and thanked everyone who had contacted him with messages of support.

He wrote on Facebook: "Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for all your lovely messages of support.

"I am humbled.

"My loving brother will live forever...because of the loving acts of a true hero, martyr and saint.

Glasgow Times:

"Be like Asad Shah and build peace and harmony.

"Live in peace look after one another. Thank you."

Thousands of people paid tribute to the much-loved man, and held two vigils to remember him over the weekend.

Tanveer Ahmed, 32, appeared in court yesterday in connection with his death.

Mr Ahmed made no plea at Glagsow Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.
