The Archbishop of Glasgow has spoke of his shock after the murder of a Muslim shopkeeper in Shawlands.
Archbishop Philip Tartaglia has said 'peace and brotherhood' must prevail following Asad Shah's death last week.
The 40-year-old had wished Christians a happy Easter on Facebook before his death.
Mr Shah’s message was: “A very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation… Let’s follow the real footsteps of beloved holy Jesus Christ.”
Archbishop Philip Tartaglia told the Catholic Herald: “The murder of Mr Shah has shocked everyone. The outpourings of sympathy following his death are a tribute to him – they have come from Christians, Muslims, people of other faith traditions and those of no faith.
"He was man who valued and respected everyone in his community. It is vital that his example of friendship, peace and brotherhood prevails.”
