Singer, fashion icon and all round global star Taylor Swift has a wardrobe anyone would envy. But she hasn’t always had her signature slick bob, red lip and fashion-forward clothes.
As Taylor’s career has evolved since her first single and debut album was released in 2006, so has her fashion sense.
We’ve gone back ten years to look at how the girl next door went through phases of cowboy boots, countless metallic minis until she discovered cropped tops and red carpet showstoppers.
Starting off in country music, of course Taylor wore some questionable dresses and cowboy boots with everything.

EVERYTHING.

And her hair was country curly.

Next was the phase where she was always ready to go to a high school prom.

Yeah…
(Peter Kramer/AP)
Satin corsets were important to Taylor.

Baby doll dresses also featured heavily.
(Tammie Arroyo/AP)
Open toe sandals were her go-to footwear.

Then, suddenly, her red carpet dresses become sleek.
(Evan Agostini/AP)
And so began her love affair with metallics.

And embellishment.
(Isaac Brekken/AP)
Generally, she’d nailed red carpet dressing by 2008.

And when’s the last time you saw Taylor Swift in jeans? This time, that’s when.
(Peter Kramer/AP)
Soon her style was far more figure-hugging.
(Gus Ruelas/AP)
But her love for metallics continued.
(Evan Agostini/AP)
Hemlines rose…
(Chris Pizzello/AP)
And she started experimenting with ethereal, romantic vibes in 2010.
(Dan Steinberg/AP)
And her signature red lip.
(Peter Kramer/AP)
Then, OMG, the ringlets gave way to sleek straightness.
(Peter Kramer/AP)
Then a FRINGE.
(Chris Pizzello/AP)
With the fringe came a more fashion-forward style.
(Isaac Brekken/AP)
Until one day Taylor wore something other than a dress and realised she was fierce.
(Matt Sayles/AP)
Like shorts.
(Jonathan Short/AP)
By 2013 she’d perfected her red carpet smoulder to the camera.
(Jordan Strauss/AP)
Taylor the siren arrived that year too.
(Evan Agostini/AP)
And she began to look INSANE on the red carpet.
(Evan Agostini/AP)
Next was the very important era of the midriff.
(Al Powers/Powers Imagery/AP)
And it looked like Taylor had finally found her fashion calling.
(Nina Prommer/AP)
She was all about being daring and standing out.
(Jordan Strauss/AP)
And her style shifted to more individual and experimental.
(Ian West/PA)
But still with a feminine edge.
(John Shearer/AP)
And we loved it.
(Jordan Strauss/AP)
These days she’s all about being bold.
(Jordan Strauss/AP)
And generally slaying every black tie opportunity.

You won’t see an A-line dress and cowboy boots again…
