Rangers:

WES FODERINGHAM: The Englishman was well beaten by Erik Sviatchenko and Tom Rogic for Celtic's goals but saved from Scott Brown as Gers prevailed in the shoot-out.

JAMES TAVERNIER: Rangers' flying full-back was expected to temper his attacking urges but hurled himself forward at every opportunity. Blazed over in the spot-kick decider. 7

ROB KIERNAN: Former Wigan centre-back was lucky to get away with misplaced clearance as Brown fizzed wide in the opening passages but did well to put the shackles on Leigh Griffiths. 7

DANNY WILSON: Has not always looked assured this season but hardly out a foot wrong against the Ladbrokes Premiership champions-elect as he swept up beside Kiernan. 7

LEE WALLACE: The Ibrox skipper powered up and down the left flank but never produced the kind of quality final ball he is capable of. Did not put a foot wrong in defence, though. 6

DOM BALL: Tasked with protecting the Ibrox defence from Celtic's marauding midfield but turned out to be the instigator of most of their first-half attacks. Slotted in at centre-back after Kiernan went off. Will miss the final after yellow card for tugging Griffiths. 7

DEAN SHIELS: Made his first start since January but coped well as the match started at its usual frenetic Old Firm tempo. Replaced by Nicky Law midway through the second half. 6

ANDY HALLIDAY: The boyhood Bluenose tackled everything in sight in the first half and put in the ball that led to Kenny Miller's opener. Had to dig deep in extra time as his legs tired. 7

JASON HOLT: Looked to pick his passes and make the late runs into the box that have brought him 10 goals this season. Did not have the pace to hurt the Celtic defence at times, however. 6

BARRIE McKAY: Untested at this level but refused to be unnerved. Ran at the Celtic full-backs at every opportunity while his work-rate was sensational. Capped off a magnificent display with his extra-time wonder strike. Got lucky with his penalty, though. 9

KENNY MILLER: At 36 the Rangers striker should be winding down his career but still looks good enough to cut it in the top flight. Denied by Craig Gordon early but kept his composure to fire Gers ahead. 8

Substitutes:

NICKY LAW (for Shiels, 66 mins): Thrown on as Rangers' legs began to sap in the second half but struggled to get up to pace. 4

GEDION ZELALEM (for Kiernan, 88 mins): The Arsenal teenager put in a mature display as Gers held on in the final stages. 5

NICKY CLARK (for Miller, 90 mins): Little chance to threaten the Hoops' goal in extra time and failed to convert from 12 yards. 4

*****

Celtic:

CRAIG GORDON: Left exposed for Miller's opener but could have had a twin standing in goal beside him and he would not have saved McKay's stunner in extra time. Tipped Clark's kick over in the penalty decider.

MIKAEL LUSTIG: The Swede usually likes to get forward but found himself pinned down by McKay's running. Came close with a header near the end of normal time. 7

DEDRYCK BOYATA: Lucky to get away with two fouls in the opening quarter-hour as he struggled to cope with Miller's movement. Lasted just 25 minutes before going off injured. 4

CHARLIE MULGREW: Celtic's utility man started at centre-half as Sviatchenko was deemed only fit enough for the bench. Looked far happier after the Dane replaced Boyata. 6

KIERAN TIERNEY: The left-back is still a pup at 18 years of age but did not looked fazed amid the madness of his first Glasgow derby as he set up Rogic for his side's second. Easily the most impressive man in green and white. 8

SCOTT BROWN: The Hoops captain came close in the opening minutes but it was his flailing leg which sent the ball Miller's way for Gers' first goal. Upped his work-rate and quality after the interval. Saw his penalty saved by Foderingham. 7

NIR BITTON: Usually calm and composed on the ball but seemed shocked by the intensity of the Light Blues pressing during the first half. Had a word with himself at half-time. 6

PATRICK ROBERTS: The on-loan Manchester City teenager will be haunted forever by his horror miss in front on an open goal. It is a pity as the 19-year-old is a natural entertainer. 6

STEFAN JOHANSEN: Preferred to Old Firm specialist Kris Commons in the playmaker role but largely let the game go past him. Booked for a foul on McKay. 5

GARY MACKAY-STEVEN: Had the chance to hit back at those who say he is not a big-game player but only gave his critics more ammunition with a tepid display. Booed off by his own fans. 5

LEIGH GRIFFITHS: The Hoops' 37-goal frontman had Foderingham beaten in the first half only to see his low drive hit the post. Almost made himself the hero with his last-gasp free-kick. 7

Substitutes:

ERIK SVIATCHENKO (for Boyata, 25 mins): Not fit enough to start after picking up a thigh injury but got Celtic level with a header after replacing Boyata. 7

CALLUM McGREGOR (for Mackay-Steven, 71 mins): Added some energy to the Celtic midfield as the drama extended into extra time. Crashed his spot-kick off the bar. 6

TOM ROGIC (for Johansen, 84 mins): Climbed off the bench to fire the Parkhead men level for the second time but handed Rangers victory when he sent his spot-kick into orbit. 6
