Shane Lynch is the latest star joining the high profile performers burning rubber at this summer’s inaugural IGNITION Festival of Motoring, advance tickets for which go on sale today.

The renowned petrol-head who first rose to fame as a member of Boyzone is now a top competitor for Team Japspeed, one of the world’s premier outfits competing in the spectacular sideways motor sport discipline of drifting.

Team Japspeed – with Lynch at the wheel of his amazing, supercharged Nissan 370Z – will be providing festival goers with dramatic high-speed demonstrations throughout Scotland’s eagerly-anticipated three-day feast of engine-revving excitement.

IGNITION will take over Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre from August 5 to 7, with ticket prices to suit every pocket.

As well as hall after hall of cars and bikes old and new, highlights include a live action zone and display laps by iconic competition machinery around a specially constructed street circuit.

On top of the Team Japspeed drifters, the stunning cars already confirmed include the F1 title winning Red Bull Racing RB7 Formula One car, which will be driven by Scotland’s own F1 hero David Coulthard.

It is staged by the team behind the globally successful Top Gear Live events, the London Classic Car Show, Top Gear Festivals and the Chris Evans-inspired CarFest North and South family shows.

The Red Bull RB7 will be driven by David Coulthard on Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7, while other stars ready to set the Tarmac on fire include rally legend Jimmy McRae. He will be demonstrating son Colin’s championship-winning Subaru Impreza and will also officially open the festival on Friday, August 5.

Top Gear’s tame racer, The Stig, will be undertaking a series of power laps in some supercars while the world famous Top Gear Live Stunt Team are guaranteed to thrill the crowds with exciting performances.

Day entry tickets bought in advance start at just £28 while a family day ticket for two adults and up to three children costs just £65. Children under 8 go free. 

Other discounts include special rates for group entry while a premium ticket (£49 in advance) will give access not just to the halls crammed with mouth-watering cars and bikes but also provides a grandstand seat for the outdoor track action and a showguide.

Premium Plus tickets (£99 in advance) give access to the VIP preview evening (Friday August 5) when holders will additionally be able to rub shoulders with drivers and celebrities for an evening of motor sport entertainment in the SECC’s Loch Suite. 

The ultimate ticket gives membership to the VIP Ignite Club (£129 on Saturday and Sunday, £149 on Friday). On top of all the benefits of a Premium ticket, Ignite Club members will have their own exclusive bar, admittance to the IGNITE Grandstand, access to driver talks plus the opportunity to see the other competition cars close up in the racing paddock.
