A MAN has been arrested in connection with a mother-of-two who was found dead in her home.
Police Scotland said a 39-year-old man has been arrested following the death of Xin Xin Liu in Newton Mearns.
Emergency services attended the family home on Beech Avenue at around midnight on Tuesday following the death of the 39-year-old.
Chinese-born Mrs Liu, who worked as an interpreter and translator, was described by neighbours as a ‘lovely girl’ who was always smiling as she walked her boys, aged six and 10, to Mearns Castle Primary School each day.
She is thought to have moved into the £237,000 house in Beech Avenue in April 2011. Forensic experts sealed off the property as they carried out investigations.
Mrs Liu had come to Scotland to attend a post-graduate course in journalism after studying law and journalism in China. She worked for Glasgow-based website development firm, SteadyInternet.
The man is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
