YOUNG pupils at Holy Cross Primary School in Govanhill have been finding out exactly why chemistry matters.
Teachers in the south side primary have been trying to interest their pupils in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects.
During a two-day event they invited children and parents from their own school, local primaries, a local nursery and ASN school as well as the heads of the science departments at a nearby secondary school.
Funds from the Royal Society of Chemistry supported the Chemistry Matters event.
The showcase was held in the main hall of the school, where children explored interactive stations.
The stations were led by primary seven Chemistry Champions along with 10 Holyrood Secondary third year science pupils.
Nicky Collum, Acting Principal Teacher and Science Co-ordinator, said: "The showcase was extremely successful and it was incredibly rewarding to see the quality science experiences being enjoyed and explored from early years children all the way through to the secondary children who were mentoring our primary pupils.
"Overall the feedback has been very positive from all the children, teachers, parents and guests who attended.
"With more than 700 children and young people from in and around Govanhill taking part and leaving enthused we are sure the science buzz is here to stay."
