THE "distressed" family of a woman who went missing after arriving in Glasgow Central Station are hoping witnesses will come forward.

Caron Findlay vanished after arriving back in Glasgow Central from visiting family in Essex.

The 52-year-old phoned her family at around 6.15pm on Tuesday to say she had made it back safely and was travelling on to Motherwell.

But she never arrived home.

Sergeant Stewart Rae said: “We are liaising with our counterparts at British Transport Police and reviewing CCTV images.

"At this time, we don’t know where Caron may have gone and I am appealing to anyone who was in the train station, who may have seen Caron to get in touch with us.

"Her family is understandably distressed by the fact that she’s missing and just want her home safe and well.

"If anyone has any information or knowledge about Caron or her whereabouts, please contact us.”

Caron is described as around 5ft 4in in height, with a slim build, green eyes and auburn collar-length hair.

She also has a tattoo on her arm that says Zander. She was wearing a navy coat, grey jogging trousers and black shoes.

She also had a blue suitcase, grey leather handbag and a canvas shopping bag with a photograph of one of her grandchild printed on it.

Caron is part of a very close knit family who maintain constant contact with one another. She has never gone missing before and her family is extremely worried.

Police say they have been reviewing CCTV from in and around Glasgow Central Station and CCTV does capture Caron in and around the station.

However, she didn’t return home and there has been no contact since.

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Motherwell Police Office on 101.
