The suspicious death of a man found injured in a street is being investigated by police.

Officers were called to Gibb Street, in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about what happened to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 5.40pm police received a report of a man being injured in Gibb Street, Airdrie.

"Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are conducting inquiries at the location and the death is being treated as suspicious.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call Coatbridge police office on 101."
