THE T in the Park music festival has been given the go-ahead to be held at its new home in Strathallan for the second year.
Councillors on Perth and Kinross Council unanimously agreed to grant promoters DF Concerts & Events the one-year public entertainment licence.
The decision was granted after a five-and-a-half hour meeting of the council.
Taking place on the grounds of Strathallan Castle from July 8 to 10, fans will see acts including Stone Roses, Calvin Harris and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The organisers have released significant changes to the festival’s arena, security, campsite and transport set-up over the last three weeks.
It was also confirmed that all camping ticket holders will receive free Citylink travel tickets to and from the event.
Geoff Ellis, festival director and CEO of DF Concerts & Events, said: “I’m delighted with the council’s decision and that they have acknowledged the significant work that has been put into ensuring that this year’s festival will be remembered for all of the right reasons – incredible line-up, the best entertainment and fun with your mates."
Melvin Benn, T in the Park's executive producer, added: “We’ve robustly addressed the shortcomings from 2015, we have a brand new team in place with a huge amount of expertise and the council has recognised the sheer volume of work that has gone into this year’s planning.
“T in the Park is Scotland’s national festival and fans will be able to book their tickets safe in the knowledge that their biggest issue this year will be choosing who they want to see.”
