More than 400 people attended her funeral last week and her father Gordon thanked everyone who paid tribute to his daughter, who was brought from the water by George Parsonage, from Glasgow Humane Society.

A fundraising page in her memory, set up by her friend Emma Dickson, is collecting on behalf of the Humane Society, which was set up in 1870 to find those lost in the water.

Posting on Facebook, Mr Goldie said a "huge thank you to everyone who has donated to Sarah's memorial fund so far".

He said he had spoken to the Humane Society, who searched for Sarah for four weeks, and they were hoping to buy a new engine for one of their rescue boats.

He wrote: "To buy this and maintain it for three years will cost around £7,000 which is our new target. "Every little bit helps. These people are true heroes who receive only charitable donations. We shall be eternally grateful to them."

A collection was held at Sarah's funeral and raised nearly £1,500. The total donated so far stands at £6,885.

Emma said: "We have recently lost a close family member/friend and I would like to do a fundraiser to donate towards the Glasgow Humane Society who have searched for Sarah for a month and now have found her body.

"They have supported the family through a tough time and now we would like to thank them for there support by making a donation, every penny would be grateful and thankful!"

She said the funeral had been "one of the hardest things" for Sarah's family and friends to get through.

She added: "Sarah had a fantastic turn out and had a send off she deserves.

"Thank you to everyone who contributed to the fund. Heaven gained another angel."

Sarah, who worked at Claire's Accessories in Braehead, went missing from her home in Renfrew on March 11 and was later seen in the River Clyde at 7.40pm the same day.
