POLICE believe a missing Edinburgh mum may be in South Lanarkshire.

Shelly Paterson was last seen leaving an address in Calder Park at around 5.40pm on Saturday, April 30 and has not made contact with family or friends since this time.

Glasgow Times:

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who knows the 23-year-old's current whereabouts as they continue with their investigation.

Inquiries have revealed Shelly may have used public transport to travel to the South Lanarkshire area and members of the public in this region who believe they may have seen her should contact police immediately.

Inspector Davie Ferguson, from Drylaw Police Station, said: "As we have previously said, Shelly is the mother of a young son and it is extremely out of character for her to leave without telling anyone where she is going.

"With this in mind, we are really eager to find her as soon as possible and ensure she is safe and well.

"We believe Shelly may have travelled to somewhere within South Lanarkshire and so I would ask those who believe they have seen a woman matching her description in this area over the past couple of days to contact police immediately.

"I would also reiterate our direct appeal to Shelly to get in touch with family, friends or police to let us know she is alright."

Shelly is described as white, 5ft 3ins tall with a medium build, purple hair that is often tied back in a ponytail and usually wearing dark-rimmed glasses. She has tattoos of a distinctive purple flower on the back of her neck as well as the name 'Danny' written on her left arm.
