AN EVENT looking at how can we solve crime will be held in Glasgow this month.

It will take place at the Mitchell Library in the city's Charing Cross on Wednesday, May 18 from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Karyn McCluskey, Director of the Violence Reduction Unit, will be a keynote speaker.

She is well-known for her work reducing crime in Scotland and was recently appointed to the board of the Scottish Professional Football League.

Karyn will be joined by Open University Psychology staff tutor, Dr Hayley Ness, who will discuss how psychologists can help police to prevent miscarriages of justice and improve accuracy of evidence.

She will also consider whether citizens can engage in their own investigations via social media and the impact that this might have on formal investigations.

Attendance is free and open to all.

Anyone who wishes to attend is asked to register at http://www.open.ac.uk/scotland/events/openminds.
