YOUNG Lacey Archer made sure that the thirsty sunflowers got a drink in Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens.
Children from nurseries and schools across the city enjoyed a visit to the Children’s Garden as temperatures topped 21°C in the city.
The visit was organised to promote the Wee Gardens in a Box scheme for schools, nurseries and community groups.
John Hancox, Director of the campaign Fruitful Schools said: “The idea of the wee garden in a box is to make it easy and fun for schools to grow flowers, plants, potatoes and also planting seeds, in a raised bed. Where schools require more help then we can look at how best this can be supplied.
“It’s a lovely time of year and its so important to get children going out of doors and realising how much fun it is to plant and grow food.
“We are keen to work with growers, local community gardens and allotment enthusiasts, so if you would like to help your local school to plant their wee garden in a box, we would love to hear from you.”
