HUNDREDS of people turned up to Glasgow auditions hoping to be picked for a role in the new Trainspotting movie.
Auditions were held yesterday for extras for the Danny Boyle sequel at Dance Glasgow Studios on Jamaica Street.
Movie hopefuls formed a large queue outside of the studios as the interviews began.
Filming is already under way in Edinburgh for the hotly anticipated movie, which will also film scenes in Glasgow and will star Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle.
Extras were lured with the promise of appearing in a “major feature film”.
Movie hopefuls were given a short interview and photographed, and will be waiting to hear if they are chosen for a role.
The sequel is based on Welsh’s sequel Porno, which was released in 2002. The author and Carlyle – who played Begbie in the first film – recently discussed the character’s influence during a talk hosted by the Edinburgh International Book Festival in April.
Trainspotting centred on the lives of a group of heroin addicts residing in Edinburgh during the late Eighties.
The casting company behind the interviews, 2020 Casting, said a number of other large productions were coming up this year in Scotland.
