WITNESSES are being sought after two cars were deliberately set on fire in a driveway.

Emergency services were called to Blairston Avenue, Bothwell in Lanarkshire at around 11pm on Friday night.

The fire was extinguished but the cars, a Mini and a Range Rover, were extensively damaged.

Two people were seen running from the scene.

The first suspect was aged 15-25, of slim build with a black beanie style hat, dark blue jacket, jeans and dark coloured trainers.

The second suspect is also of 15-25 years of age and of slim build and was wearing a jacket with a hood and darker coloured sleeves, jeans and dark coloured trainers.

Detective Constable Ross Philip of Cambuslang Police Office said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish more details on who is responsible for this wilful fire raising incident and to trace them.

“I am anxious to speak to anyone who was in the area of Blairston Avenue in Bothwell late on Friday evening and saw anything suspicious. I would also like to speak to anyone who knows their identity or has any information that may assist our investigation.”
