Identified as 'Josh' in a series of screengrabbed text exchanges that have gone viral on social media, the victim was responding to a fake advert on job site Indeed.

Glasgow Times:

The listing, advertising a position paying £16,000 for an apprentice welder in Motherwell, asked applicants to text a phone number.

But the text interview quickly went from the expected - questions about experience and criminal convictions - to the bizarre.

Josh was asked:"For medical reasons could you please give me your height, weight and a rough idea of your meal plan (how often you have junk food and what type)"

Glasgow Times:

The prankster then requested a selfie, before closing out with "If you could describe yourself as any animal in the world what would it be, and why?"

Josh replied saying: "If i was to describe myself as any animal it would be a monkey. They are very energetic and excited animals which helps to describe my sort of personality."

It is at this point the jokester reveals his deception, texting: "Cheers mate this has made ma mornin."

Glasgow Times:

Disappointed, Josh replies "F**k sake man, just trying to get myself a wee apprenticeship" before conceding in a seperate text "Fair play you've made me look like a ***".

Josh's plight has sparked hopes the teenager will secure a job soon, as well as widespread condemnation of the prank's perpetrator.

Glasgow Times:

The Evening Times contacted the man who put up the advert, but he declined to comment. We have chosen not to reveal his identity as he claims he has already received online abuse.
