CUSTOMERS were left "badly shaken" after a man wearing a ski mask threatened staff and robbed a betting shop.

Detectives are studying CCTV footage following the incident at Ladbrokes Bookmakers on Main Street, Blantyre on Thursday.

At around 12.45pm, a man entered the shop, threatened staff then fled with cash along Millheugh Place.

There were employees and several customers in the shop at the time, who were left traumatised.

The suspect was wearing a ski mask and was around 5ft 7inches in height, with a slim build. He was wearing a black Nike three-quarter length football jacket.

The man had also taped across a logo on the left side of his jacket with silver electrical tape.  He was wearing dark coloured gloves, light coloured trousers and trainers.

Detective Constable Debbie Walker said: “The area would have been busy at the time of the incident and I’m appealing for anyone with any information to contact us.

"Perhaps you saw the man acting suspiciously prior to the crime taking place or you noticed him running off toward Millheugh Place, if you have any information or knowledge then please do pass it on to the police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact CID officers at Cambuslang Police Office on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
