MOURNERS are to pay tribute to a schoolgirl who died after collapsing during PE.

Kiera Beagle, 14, passed away on May 26 after taking unwell at Calderhead High School in Shotts.

Hundreds of friends are now planning to hold a memorial service for the teenager on Thursday June 2, exactly a week after hear death, and release purple balloons in her honour.

On a Facebook event page, organisers wrote: "On Thursday 26th May 2016 heaven gained another angel before her time when Kiera Beagle sadly passed away during school hours at Calderhead High in Shotts, and as a mark of respect one week on we are planning a balloon vigil to take place at the Calderhead High.

"We are asking people to bring purple balloons to let off in memory of Kiera, candles are also welcome.

"The community has shown great support so far to all family and friends affected by such a tragedy via social media, lets show them face to face that we are all here for them."

Mourners have been turning their social media profile pictures to images of purple hearts, with the message Fly High Kiera, as a mark of respect for the 14-year-old girl.

Donations are continuing to pour in for the relatives of the tragic schoolgirl, with a fundraising page set up to help exceeding its target by almost £1500.

More than 250 people have contributed to the fund so far, donating around £3465 to help her family.

Medical staff tried to revive the teenager after she collapsed at school as startled pupils watched in horror.

She was flown by air ambulance to Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children but died not long after arriving.
