SCHOOLGIRL singing star Beau Dermott, the Britain’s Got Talent ‘golden buzzer’ contestant, is back on stage this week – right here in Glasgow.

The 12-year-old from Widnes, near Liverpool, wowed the TV talent show’s judges at her audition but she missed out on the Royal Variety Show spot after coming fifth in Saturday’s final.

On Friday, she will perform two songs at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with professional youth orchestra Glasgow Philharmonia.

Beau will also perform at Glasgow Philharmonia’s summer concert in Edinburgh on Thursday.

Beau said: “I’m really excited about coming to Scotland – I have never been to Glasgow before but my mum and dad have and they say it’s lovely.

“It will also be my first time performing with an orchestra, so I can’t wait.”

Beau lost out to magician Richard Jones in the final, but she said she was “not too disappointed”.

“I did my best,” she said.

“It was really great being part of Britain’s Got Talent. I enjoyed it a lot.

“All the attention was a bit scary. But I’m getting used to doing newspaper interviews now.”

Beau’s dad Ian, 53, said: “We got to know Ross Gunning, who conducts Glasgow Philharmonia, a while back and we’re delighted Beau could come and do the summer concerts.

“We’re all really looking forward to it – Beau has never been to Glasgow before, but she can do a great Scottish accent.”

Rumours of record deals and west end careers have been circulating since Beau first appeared on BGT, stunning the judges with her performance of Defying Gravity from the stage show Wicked, but Ian says nothing has been decided.

Ian added: “The last few weeks have been a real whirlwind for us all but Beau has been brilliant.

“We really don’t know what’s going to happen next. There are lots of things being talked about, but at the end of the day, she is only 12 years old.

“Whatever she wants to do, we will back her all the way.”

Beau said: “I just want to keep singing. I love Idina Menzel and Katherine Jenkins, so I’d like to be like them one day. I’d love to work in musical theatre.”

She added: “But this week, I’m just looking forward to half-term and coming to Scotland. And then I’ll be back at school.”
