GLASGOW is set to sizzle today and predicted to be one of the hottest places in the UK.

With Scotland enjoying a mini-heatwave as part of England is deluged with rain, temperatures in the city are expected to reach around 22C.

A clash of two weather systems will guarantee blue skies and soaring temperatures in Scotland up until the weekend.

Emma Sharples, of the Met Office, said Scotland was sitting in the middle of two pressure systems, a high one to the north of the country and a low one to the south of England.

She said:”It means you are sitting pretty in Scotland, compared to the south east.

“Most places in Scotland were warmer than London yesterday, where it struggled to reach 15C."

Crowds flocked to the Botanic Gardens to soak up some of the sunshine yesterday, as temperatures peaked at 19C.

With little movement in the weather for the next four days, Scotland will continue to enjoy temperatures easily into the low 20’s, the Met Office said.

Miss Sharples added. "Today, Glasgow should be one of the hottest spots in the country, at 21 or even 22C.

“Wednesday should turn out the same, with unbroken sunshine spoiled only by the odd spot of rain in Inverness and Aberdeenshire.

“It’s the same story on Thursday."
