POLICE are joining forces with Alzheimer Scotland to ensure they have an understanding of people with the condition.
Officers in West Dunbartonshire asked the organisation, in particular the DAWDLE Group (Dementia Awareness West Dunbartonshire Learning and Engagement), to provide a series of awareness sessions and social media campaign.
During the month of April, Fiona Kane, an advisor from Alzheimer Scotland, delivered dementia awareness sessions to more than 100 police officers across West Dunbartonshire.
Fiona also delivered a Dementia Friends session to a group of local Police Scotland Youth Volunteers.
Constable Colin MacMillan from Dumbarton Police Office said: "Dementia affects a significant number of people within our community but it is a condition many of us don't know much about.
"That is why we wanted to join forces with Alzheimer Scotland to develop a way to improve our own understanding of it."
