A MAN was punched in the face following an altercation with another man in Glasgow’s Shawlands.

The incident happened at around 2.10am on Sunday, June 12.

Police say the 24-year-old victim was walking along Kilmarnock Road, near to the Tesco Express store and Pollokshaws East train station, when he became involved in an altercation with another man.

The victim was punched in the face and fell to the ground.

Following the assault the man, who was in the company of a woman at the time, ran off south along Kilmarnock Road turning into Newlandsfield Road.

A taxi driver then stopped and alerted police to a man lying injured on the street.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for a head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

The man involved is described as in his mid 20s, with black hair and wearing a black shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

The woman he was with is described as in her mid 20s, with long blonde hair and wearing a cream dress with black high heels.

Detective Constable Jim Duncan, from Cathcart CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was on Kilmarnock Road around the time of the attack and may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.
