Jockey Sir AP McCoy shared stories from his much celebrated career at Action for Children Scotland’s Sports Dinner at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Friday, June 10.

More than 400 sports fans gathered for the annual event, including Rangers legends Ally McCoist and Mark Hateley, MSPs Humza Yousaf and Anas Sarwar and former SFA Chief Executive Gordon Smith.

The charity works with more than 14,000 children, young people, parents and carers each year and operated around 80 services across Scotland.

More than £90,000 was raised in aid of disadvantaged children, young people and families in Scotland, bringing the total raised since the Sports Dinner first launched to almost £550,000.

Paul Carberry, director of children’s services at Action for Children Scotland, said: “It was a great honour to have AP McCoy join us for our Sports Dinner - giving fans the opportunity to hear a true sporting legend tell the story of a remarkable career.

“The Sports Dinner has now raised nearly £550,000 since it launched, helping Action for Children Scotland to support the country’s most disadvantaged children, young people and families through a variety of services. We are very grateful to the committee for its hard work and dedication in making the event the success that it is.”

Action for Children Scotland’s Sports Dinner is sponsored by leading exporters of paper, PG Paper Company and supported by the Howat Foundation.

Previous Sports Dinner guests have included Frank Bruno, Steve Davis, Joe Calzaghe, Alan Kennedy and Craig Brown.
