A body recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow has been confirmed as that of missing deaf mum-of-four Kirsty Aitchison.

Police Scotland have tonight confirmed the identification and say the 30-year-olds's death is not being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters recovered the body near the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow at around 4.30pm on Saturday.

The discovery was made close to an area police divers had swept earlier this week as officers searched for Ms Aitchison.

Kirsty disappeared after attending a Scotland Deaf Booze Crew event in Campus nightclub on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow on Sunday June 12.

Glasgow Times:

Police had released CCTV footage which showed Kirsty walking down Sauchiehall Street to Argyle Street and on to James Watt Street before heading to the Broomielaw where she was last seen at 3.16am.

As news of her disappeared spread on social media her concerned friends searched parks around Glasgow in an attempt to find her.
