The family of Kirsty Aitchison have paid a moving tribute to the mum-of-four who was found dead yesterday.

Last night police confirmed a body recovered from the River Clyde was that of the missing mum.

The 30-year-old disappeared after attending a deaf event at Campus nightclub on Sauchiehall Street on Sunday June 12.

Her cousin Garry Wilson has thanked everyone who helped search for Kirsty and those who have supported his family at a difficult time.

He said: "I would just like to to thank everyone for their time, efforts and support. As you will know we have found Kirsty, and while this is far removed from the resolution any of us would have hoped for, our little cousin is at peace.

"For that at the very least I am thankful.

"We will miss her greatly and she has been taken from us all far, far too early. Again I want to thank you all for the masses of support both myself and the rest of the family have received from everyone worldwide.

"This is humbling and restores a bit of faith in humanity,"

Today a a crowdfunding page was set up by Kirsty's friends who wish to support her grieving family and to pay for her funeral.

So far more than £4,500 has been donated by members of the public.
