Are you heading to Glasgow for a holiday during the summer months? Then fear not, we here at the Evening Times have some good advice for the tourists in town.

The cone on the Duke of Wellington’s head at the Gallery of Modern Art is probably more famous than said Duke and the art galleries put together – selfie taking with the famous statue is a must as is visiting the GoMA if you’re a fan of modern art.

Glasgow Times:

If you are in Glasgow on a warm day, you will witness men, women, children (mostly men) taking part in TAPS AFF.

This practice of unpeeling clothes regardless of age or physique is well known in Glasgow and you will be thoroughly welcome to join in.

Glasgow Times: Take a trip on the Glasgow bus tour which covers the culture and history of our great city. If it’s not a TAPS AFF day, then best not to sit upstairs on the open deck….you will be freezing and most likely soaked by rain.

Glasgow Times: If you like your music, then Glasgow is bursting with great pubs and venues that play host to gigs most nights. Try the Clutha in the city centre and the Lismore in the West End to name but a few.

Glasgow Times:

And if you want to get in the true Glasgow spirit, then your night out at the pub must be finished off with a portion of chips and cheese.

Glasgow Times:

Tourists who are fond of browsing a market stall or two will love the world famous Barras. It’s shoppers’ paradise and a must-see for tourists. Try the doughnut stall and ensure you know your genuine goods from your…eh not-so genuine goods.

Glasgow Times: Unlike our English counterparts we welcome both English and Scottish banknotes.

Glasgow Times:

If someone offers to give you a ‘Glasgow kiss’ do not accept as you will receive a sore face.

Glasgow Times: If you are in the mood for somewhere lively to go at night – head to Ashton Lane for a range of pubs and restaurants. If you aren’t a fan of students, then avoid Sauchiehall Street at the weekend.

Glasgow Times:

Glasgow has been named as one of the top 20 ‘Best of the World’ destinations for 2016 by National Geographic Traveller.
