GLASGOW hip hop group Hector Bizerk have called it quits.

The band, made up of Audrey Tait, MC Louie, Fraser Sneddon and David Calder, said they were splitting up after almost five years together.

Rapper MC Louie said the band would play one last Glasgow headliner at Kelvingrove Park Bandstand on August 12.

He said: "Today, It breaks our hearts to announce that Hector Bizerk is coming to an end.

"Over the past six months I have tried my damnedest to make it work, but personal issues have defeated us and it is time to move on.

"I have dedicated everything to this band. I wanted to create something that could change perspectives.

"I feel like we have achieved that together. Eternal gratitude to Jennifer, Fraser, David, Paul, Tom, Pearl, Ibrahim and Audrey. You are incredible artists and beautiful people. It was a pleasure to share all of this with you.

"Special thanks to Adrian and Cara for all your endeavour and guidance, and to our spiritual home Paul's Halls Studios.

"It's nothing but hip-hop"

Hector Bizerk formed in 2011 and supported a number of well known hip hop artists including Wu Tang Clan and Grandmaster Flash.

Devastated fans showed their support when the news broke.

Jules Boyle said: "Truly, truly gutted. You know what I think of you. Nobody else comes close. It's been something else. Good luck for all the future projects."

John McGlynn added: "Devastated, one of the most important musical influences of my adult life.

"Thank you for some great music, gigs and a new vision of hip-hop, and good luck on wherever the future takes you all. Big love!"
