THE mother of a missing teenager has made a heartfelt appeal for him to come as efforts are being made to search the Hamilton area for him.

Jordan Verdi has not been in touch with his family since he vanished from his Hamilton home at 4.30pm on Friday.

His worried mum Charlotte Skilling issued a public appeal to him on Facebook urging her son to get in touch.

She said: "I am making a direct appeal to my son Jordan Verdi.

"Jordan you must know that there is a lot of people looking for you and they won't stop looking until you have made direct contact with me or the police.

"Now if you are embarrassed or in some sort of trouble then we can sort it out, nothing is worth this and to your so called friends who maybe keeping in hiding or whatever they need to man up and let us know where you are.

"I love you Jordan and this isn't you, you know you can talk to me about anything and whoever you are with or wherever you are, (this) isn't the way to go about things so please Jordan come home or get in contact.

"I will come get you myself and lets put an end to this. love mum."

The family are also pulling together a search party to look for the missing teenager in the Eddlewood area of Hamilton tonight.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Jordan normally maintains contact with his family, however given the length of time which has passed, they are becoming more concerned.

"Jordan has a number of friends in the Hamilton area and Inspector George McCutcheon asks that if anyone has seen Jordan since Friday evening, knows of his current whereabouts, or indeed if Jordan sees this appeal, that contact be made with Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number PS-20160625-2904 and ask for the call to be diverted to Hamilton Police Office."

The 17-year-old is 5'8" tall with a slim build. He has a tanned complexion and short, black hair.

When last seen, Jordan was wearing a black North Face hooded top, grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms with blue stripes and white Nike trainers.
