Danniella Westbrook opened up about her troubled and turbulent life on Channel 5 series In Therapy – and her candid revelations had fans on social media rallying around her.
For the past 20 years, the EastEnders star has lived her life in the media spotlight, with a much publicised struggle with drugs being just one of the battles she has been forced to face.
In the emotional show, cameras followed Danniella as she underwent a month of intensive therapy with specialist Mandy Saligari, a clinical director at one of the UK’s leading addiction clinics.
Danniella Westbrook appeared in Channel 5′s In Therapy (Channel 5)
London-born Danniella, 42, shared some traumatic events in her life, including the sexual abuse she suffered from the age of seven, right up to her infamous substance abuse and thoughts of suicide.
During In Therapy, Danniella said: “At seven I was like a 14-year-old. There were certain things going on with me that shouldn’t have been. That’s why sex doesn’t mean anything to me. I feel absolutely nothing.”
The mother-of-two sobbed, broke down and had a couple of meltdowns, but her strength shone through.
