Teams of cops are covering acres of a land in a bid to find clues after a pensioner was stabbed to death by a scar-faced thug who was on a robbery rampage.

Officers are combing every nook and cranny on Tobago Place and Green Street where the victim 76-year-old John Baker lived.

Glasgow Times:

Cops could be seen probing stanks and large areas of grass with search equipment as their investigations continued today.

Mr Baker was targeted after a robbery rampage in the city centre on Wednesday at around 12:25am.

He was stabbed after he was robbed on Abercromby Street where it meets Stevenson Street.

He collapsed in the street after the attack and three members of the public came to his aid.

Police and an ambulance were called before the victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he later died.

He was the third victim of a man who had robbed a 25-year-old woman and attempted to rob a 53-year-old woman hours earlier.

Floral tributes were placed at the scene where the tragedy happened.

Glasgow Times:

One tribute said: "Taken away before your time John. 76 years and taken by cowards."
