A Lanarkshire theme park which is at the centre of an investigation after several people were injured when a rollercoaster derailed has reopened some of its attractions.

M&Ds theme park within Strathclyde Park, Motherwell has opened its indoor complex which includes a kids soft play area, bowling and Amazonia.

The attractions reopened this morning.

The move comes after a horror crash at the theme park at around 3.40pm on Sunday which resulted several children being take to hospital to be treated for their injuries. 

There were nine passengers on board including two 19-year-old adults and seven children. Three are aged 11 and the others are aged, 12, 13, 14 and 16.

The passengers were immediately given medical attention and taken to three hospitals for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The joint investigation into the circumstances of the incident at M & D's on Sunday, June 27 is continuing, between Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive.

"We have been made aware that the owners/operators have taken the decision to open the indoor complex of the park, which includes the kids soft play Area, bowling and Amazonia this morning .

"The rides and theme park area remain closed as investigations continue."
