A charity for children with additional supports needs will benefit after a missing dog was reunited with his owners.

SupERkids in East Renfrewshire has been given Buster's finders fee of £500 after he was returned to his owner Pauline Brannan by the woman who is behind the charity.

Nicola Kelly, her husband Paul and three delighted kids discovered 17-week old Buster in their back garden at their home on Tuesday.

Their property is close to Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow's South Side where the adorable Shih-Poo pup had disappeared on Friday, June 24.

The Evening Times previously reported online that the search for the gorgeous puppy who vanished had gone viral after he disappeared while out walking with his owner and Pauline's husband Gordon.

A Facebook page was set up to find the dog, who is a cross between a Poodle and Shih Tzu and the family handed out posters door-to-door in the area surrounding the park.

Pauline, from Busby, said: "We got a phone call on Gordon's phone, and the woman said, 'are you Buster's dad?'

"She told us that she had him and I immediately began screaming.

"She confirmed that he had a blue collar on with wee bones on it - and we knew it was him."

The Kelly family recognised Buster after receiving a leaflet through their door which offered a £500 reward for his return.

But instead of taking the reward for themselves, Nicola donated to the charity she set up which helps kids with additional support needs in East Renfrewshire.

Other people who have heard Buster's story have also since donated to the charity.

Pauline said: "I was squealing with delighted when we got him back. I did not know what to do."

The family believe Buster could have been held at a home in the area after the vet confirmed he had been eating during the four days he had disappeared.

Pauline said: "When we got him back, he was in immaculate condition."

Now the family hope to put the stress of losing Buster behind them for just a few days - by hosting a doggy party.

Buster's Get Together will take place on Thursday, July 21 at 6.30pm at the entrance of Rouken Glen Park and all dogs are welcome.
