Lady Mone has labelled David Cameron's resignation a tragedy in the wake of the Brexit vote.

The 44-year-old pleaded with the Prime Minister to reconsider his decision to step down during an appearance on the Sky panel show The Pledge last night.

She said: "The country is now in crisis, there's no political leadership, people are turning against each other -- and what the country needs right now is a statesman."

Glasgow Times:

"And in his resignation speech thats EXACTLY what he showed himself to be."

Lady Mone then addressed Nicola Sturgeon's suggestion that a secondary independence referendum was on the table, after Scottish voters voted to stay within the EU.

She said: "In these extraordinary times - if people can call for a secondary referendum, I don't think it's too much to call on David Cameron and ask him to reconsider."

Lady Mone is no stranger to expressing her political views.

She previously stated she would leave Scotland if the country called for independence during the Indy Ref in 2014.

The lingerie tycoon also gave her backing to the Tories ahead of the general election.
