Police are probing an alleged assault on a young boy which took place in Glasgow city centre.
Their investigation comes after a post circulated the social media website Facebook which claimed a woman had slapped her son across the face after he leaned against a 'dusty' door.
The post read: "If anyone know this woman...name and shame.
"I witnessed her slap her son clean across the face all because he leaned a door that was dusty.
"Hit him so hard she drew bloody with her ring.
"While breaking his heart he said, "Please please don't do that to me mummy." Disgusting!"
The post featured pictures of the two women with a young boy outside the former Odeon cinema in Renfield Street in Glasgow.
It was posted on the website on Thursday morning and has had thousands of shares.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We are aware of an alleged assault within Glasgow city centre.
"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident."
