SCOTS actor David Tennant has proved there is life after Doctor Who by making a £1.7 million profit last year.

The star revealed he has a healthy bank balance in annual accounts lodged with Companies House.

Tennant, 45, has starred in several TV dramas, including the ITV hit Broadchurch, since stepping down as the Time Lord in 2010.

His income has also received a massive boost from an TV advertising deal with Virgin Media.

Latest accounts for his personal company Sandyboy Limited show it had total assets of £1,862,890 for 2015.

After paying off unnamed creditors to the value of £188,584, the firm declared a profit of £1,674,306.

That is more than £370,000 up on the previous year’s profit of £1,303,130. Profits at the firm had slumped to £500,000 in the year after he left Dr Who but have now recovered.

Tennant, who was born in Bathgate and brought up in Paisley, is a director of the company along with his actress wife Georgia Moffett.

The firm is thought to be named after his father Sandy McDonald,, a former Church of Scotland minister who died aged 78 in March.

The company was set up in 2005, the year he took up his role as Doctor Who.

He became a massive hit with fans and helped make the BBC show a ratings winner.The actor is currently filming the third series of detective drama Broadchurch in Dorset.
