Filming for legendary sitcom Still Game started today following the show's nine year hiatus.

The iconic comedy series will return to BBC One later this year in a six-part series featuring the original cast, including writers Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill.

Filming started today at BBC Scotland's purpose built set in Dumbarton with first scenes reuniting loveable pensioners Jack and Victor and Jane McCarry as Isa.

Filming will continue around Glasgow for the next six weeks. 

The new series will also see the return of Still Game favourites Jane McCarry as Isa, Sanjeev Kohli as Navid, Gavin Mitchell as Bobby, Paul Riley as Winston, and Mark Cox as Tam.

The popular show last aired nine years ago on BBC in 2007 causing mass public demand for its return. 

Ford Kiernan said: "The BBC Dumbarton Studios are incredible and we're super chuffed to be back in the costumes and wigs again."

Greg Hemphill added: "We were nervous at the beginning but after 10mins we felt as though we'd never been away."
