MARK WARBURTON hopes Rangers fans will move on from the past and won’t boycott away matches in the Premiership next season.

Ibrox chairman Dave King has urged the Light Blue legions to travel in the top flight as Warburton’s side set their sights on the silverware in the coming months.

Many supporters feel aggrieved at the way Rangers have been treated by rival fans, clubs and the football authorities during their financial troubles and climb back to the Premiership.

Gers fans backed their side in huge numbers through their time in the lower leagues over the last four years and Warburton is keen for that to continue when his side hit the road in pursuit of title glory in the coming months.Glasgow Times: Mark Warburton

He said: “The supporters were a huge factor for us last season. I think for one of the early cup games we had 11,500 fans on a Tuesday night so we had big numbers

“Their support really helped us and the players responded to it and they are well aware of it.

“I hope very much that the problems can be overcome and we get the support we need.

“I think the chairman is dead right. It’s the start of a new era and we want to move on.

“I’m sure he is not disregarding what has happened in the past but we have to move forward as a club and I absolutely agree with him.

“I think it’s the right message for the fans and I hope we get their backing during the season.”
