It would be an “amazing stunt” if the relationship between Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston was fake, singer Olly Murs has said.

The A-listers, nicknamed Hiddleswift, have been pictured together on numerous occasions in recent weeks, with Tom even sporting a love heart on his arm while wearing an “I heart T S” t-shirt.

Their relationship has been the subject of much speculation with many claiming it is a publicity stunt or the makings of a new music video.

Wading into the debate singer Olly said he is not sure of the truth behind the pairing, but said it would be an “awesome” piece of trickery.

Speaking ahead of his performance at Barclaycard British Summer Time in Hyde Park, Olly said: “To be honest with you I really don’t know. I’ve heard the rumours that it could be a video for a new song.

“It’d be quite mental if it was, it would be pretty awesome. What an amazing stunt if it was. At the same time maybe they are just in love.”

Scottish DJ Calvin Harris confirmed in a tweet in early June that he and the Bad Blood singer had broken up, and two weeks later Taylor and Tom were pictured kissing.

Olly, who rose to fame as a contestant on The X Factor and hosted the show last year alongside Caroline Flack, ruled himself out of presenting Top Gear, saying it will always be Jeremy Clarkson’s show.

The Dance With Me singer, who gained the fastest celebrity lap time on the show last year, said Chris Evans had a tough task in trying to fill Clarkson’s shoes.

He said: “I don’t really have the car knowledge to be that kind of host. I also think that it is Jeremy Clarkson’s show and I think that is the problem sometimes when someone else goes in.

Unfortunately a lot of fans love Top Gear and they love what Jeremy did on the show. Chris Evans is a fantastic presenter, fantastic guy. I enjoyed it, but I’m not an avid Top Gear fan, I don’t watch it all the time.”

During his set Olly performed hits including Up, for which he was joined onstage by Ella Eyre, Dear Darlin’ and his new single You Don’t Know Love.

He said he was “honoured” to be on the bill in London entertaining a crowd of 65,000, supporting headliners Take That.
