Brock Lesnar made a winning return to the octagon on Saturday night, battering Mark Hunt in the co-main event of UFC 200 at T-Mobile Arena.

Lesnar, the wildly popular WWE wrestler who last competed as a UFC heavyweight in December 2011, was too big, too strong and too adept on the ground for No. 8-ranked Hunt and took the contest 29-27 on all three scorecards.

The 38-year-old’s future is unknown. He received a UFC all-time high $2.5 million in guaranteed money for this appearance and likely far more once the pay per view shares are allocated.

“One day at a time,” Lesnar said, when quizzed by ring interviewer Joe Rogan about whether he would soon be seen again in the organization.

“It took me a little while to get back into it,” Lesnar added. “Words can’t describe this.”

Lesnar soon established strong positions, powering Hunt to the floor early in round one and using his size and leverage to keep his opponent under control.

Round 2 was five minutes eminently forgettable minutes, that involved much walking, circling and occasional cuddling, but nothing in the way of meaningful action.

But Lesnar reestablished his dominance in the final round, never giving Hunt a chance to get any offense going, to cruise to victory.
