His family in Wishaw expected him home later that day.
When he failed to return home his wife Samantha Richardson, 28, took to Facebook to upload his photograph and appeal to friends for help to trace him.
She wrote: “Has anyone seen Jim Richardson since leaving T in the park?”
“I’m hoping someone has picked him up or he’s got a lift but no idea where he’s gone.”
Enquiries into the full circumstances are continuing but the death is being treated as unexplained at this time.
