A Scottish couple have been reported missing by relatives after the Nice terror attack which killed 84 people. 

Carol Annie Cowan, 27, and Ross Cowan, 30, from Helensburgh, were on holiday in the capital of the French Riviera celebrating Bastille Day.

Mrs Cowan's sister Amy Stanton, from Helensburgh, said she has been unable to contact her sister since the attack.

Glasgow Times:

She said she last had contact from Mrs Cowan on Thursday one hour before the horrific attack. 

Ms Stanton confirmed she has reported her sister and her husband missing to the UK Foreign Office.

She issued an urgent appeal on social media for anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the couple. 

She said: "Asking everyone I know to pray or do anything you can to put all your positive thoughts and energy in to my sister and her husband being safe and well."

"If anyone knows anyone that is in Nice that could help could you please let me know."

84 people have been confirmed dead, including several children, and more than 50 remain in a serious condition in hospital when a lorry was driven into a crowd of people celebrating the national holiday of Bastille Day. 

A lorry zig-zagged through a crowd gathered after the end of a firework display on the seafront in Nice marking France's day of independence, Bastille Day.

The identity of the driver is currently unknown however papers secured from the vehicle were of a 31-year-old French-Tunisian, according to an unnamed police source.
