A host of past and present X Factor judges and acts appear in a clever first-look promo video for the forthcoming ITV series.

The likes of returning judges Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne feature along with boss Simon Cowell in the clip, which sees them “singing” along to 2 Unlimited’s catchy 1990s dance hit No Limit.

Also included in the throwback video are former judges Tulisa Contostavlos, and Cheryl, with a brief glimpse of one-time guest judge Katy Perry as they give a resounding “no” to a host of some of the least impressive wannabes in the show’s 12-year- history.

And some old favourites are also involved, with X Factor’s One Direction being given a huge “yes” by Tulisa, the five lads looking incredibly young and sparky before they became global sensations.

Singer-turned-presenter Rylan Clark-Neal is also seen in the speedy video, crying into his mentor Nicole’s arms in perhaps one of the most iconic moments on the programme, ever.

While the carefully-constructed clip doesn’t give much away about this year’s series – which started filming in mid-June in cities across the UK – it serves as a reminder as to why the show has been such a success – with previous winners Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and Sam Bailey included.

And of course, it whets the appetite of those who love the audition stage for the genuinely awful hopefuls who just can’t hold a tune.

This year’s X Factor reunites Nicole, Louis and Sharon, as well as former presenter Dermot O’Leary, who was replaced last year by Caroline Flack and Olly Murs.

Another returning feature to the series is the audition room, popular with TV audiences for its more intimate setting versus the stage auditions.

Taking the helm on X Factor spin-off show The Xtra Factor is former contestant Rylan, and presenter Matt Edmondson.
