FED-UP residents want assurances over security from the promoter of the Summer Sessions after their disastrous T in the Park was marked with controversy.

DF Concerts is responsible for both events, and residents admit they are concerned about this year's Summer Sessions in Bellahouston Park following several incidents at T in the Park.

Teenagers Peter MacCallum, from Lochgilphead and Megan Bell, from the Seaham area near Sunderland, died at this year's T in the Park while police are also investigating the rape of an 18-year-old.

Police Scotland also arrested 54 people at the Perthshire festival.

These concerns will be raised by members of the Mosspark and Corkerhill Community Council and Councillor Alex Wilson when they meet with DF concerts later this month.

They will discuss upcoming Summer Sessions shows featuring Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on Friday, August 26, and Biffy Clyro on Saturday, August 27.

Previous Summer Sessions have caused problems within the surrounding community with drunk festival-goers using nearby gardens as toilets and intimidating locals.

Last year, police made 38 arrests in two days - including 10 for violent offences - as disorder erupted at festival, while the year before, more than 30 people were nabbed.

Mosspark community council chairwoman Elaine McSporran said: "Seeing what happened at T in the Park and how it was run is a concern.

"A lot of the people attending these shows are young and impressionable, if there is more security maybe they will behave.

She added: "It's concerning that type of chaos and we don't want it in our doorstep.

"This is the first time we have been consulted by DF Concerts and at the meeting we will have a chance to raise our concerns."

Councillor Alex Wilson added: "I will want to know if it is the same security as T in the Park and if so the security was inadequate and I want a cast iron guarantee it will be better than T in the Park.

"T in the Park was a shambles."

DF Concerts confirmed that they will attend the meeting to hear the concerns of the residents.
