UFC 203’s lineup has a new key women’s bout on the lineup, officials today announced.
Joanne Calderwood (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will meet Jessica Andrade(14-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at the event, though officials didn’t disclose a weight class for the bout.
UFC 203 takes place Sept. 10 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Calderwood is No. 11 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s strawweight rankings, and Andrade is an honorable mention in the same 115-pound weight class.
Calderwood recently competed at 125 pounds, though the UFC hasn’t formally added a female flyweight division to its roster. The 29-year-old Scottish muay Thai fighter scored a TKO victory over Valerie Letourneau, which followed a unanimous-decision win and “Fight of the Night” performance over Cortney Casey a bout earlier. Calderwood, a quarterfinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 20,” now looks for her third straight win since a submission loss to Maryna Moroz in 2015.
She now meets Andrade, a 24-year-old Brazilian who recently dropped from bantamweight to strawweight and picked up a TKO victory over Jessica Penne. As one of the UFC’s most active female fighters, Andrade is currently on a 5-2 UFC run that includes victories over Sarah Moras, Larissa Pacheco, Raquel Pennington and Rosi Sexton.
The latest UFC 203 card now includes:
Champ Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem – for heavyweight title
Ben Rothwell vs. Fabricio Werdum
Nik Lentz vs. Mairbek Taisumov
Damir Hadzovic vs. Yukawa Kazuya
Mickey Gall vs. CM Punk
Bethe Correia vs. Jessica Eye
Urijah Faber vs. Jimmie Rivera
Drew Dober vs. Erik Koch
Jessica Andrade vs. Joanne Calderwood
