A maths teacher has gone on trial accused of a string of charges including raping a former pupil and sexually assaulting another.
His first alleged victim claimed Ronald Burton, 60, called him “the son he never had” and described himself as “a boy desperate for a father figure”.
The jury heard that Burton offered to tutor the boy at lunch time which they did which then progressed to after school as well.

The High Court in Glasgow heard Burton spoke to him about sexual matters and asked him to compare penis sizes with him.
It was claimed that when the pupil was in second year, Burton asked him about what he had done sexually with girls and about other sexual matters, using “crude termonology”.
It was also alleged Burton took the boy to the gym where they showered in a communal area and he massaged the boy in his bedroom.
The alleged victim gave evidence at Burton's trial where he is accused of using lewd and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the man, who cannot be identified between August 1994 and November 1996 at a number of places in Lanarkshire including a school.

The court heard he was given massages by Burton on the lead up to exams and after a calf and groin injury at the gym.
He also faces charges of rape, sexual assault and supplying cannabis to another male, between August 2013 and April 2014.
The court heard Burton taught the witness when he went to high school.
Burton denies the charges and the trial before judge Lady Stacey continues.
