Police are hunting a gang of four men after the attempted murder of a man in Milton, Glasgow. 

A group of four men stabbed a 34-year-old man in a brutal attack on Ashgill Road, Milton, at around 00.25am in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

The man was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary were his condition is described as critical. 

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder and have detained the injured man.

Detective Sergeant John Dowds, Greater Glasgow CID, is appealing for information. He said:

“The injured man had just been dropped off by a taxi in Balmore Road near to Ashgill Street where it is believed he became involved in an argument with some people in the area. However, he made off into Ashgill Road where he was attacked by four men, all described as white and in their 20s.

“He was very seriously injured with what was originally thought to be life threatening injuries, however, thankfully now he seems to be in a critical but stable condition.
