MORE than 30 jobs will be created when a top sports retailer opens up shop at the Glasgow Fort.

Leading fashion streetwear and sportswear retailer Footasylum will open at the centre on Saturday.

Footasylum stocks leading sportswear giants Nike and Adidas and contemporary classics like Vans, Converse and Puma. It will also host up-and-coming brands such as Sik Silk and 11 Degrees.

It will stock clothing and footwear for men, women and children.

Glen Dickinson, Head of Retail at Footasylum, said: “We are looking forward to opening the doors of this vast new store at Glasgow Fort. It will feature the best of the streetwear and sportswear brands we have to offer.

“We are pleased to be creating these new positions and welcoming these 30 people to the Footasylum family.”

The 4900 sq ft unit is located near H&M and New Look at the centre. The store will feature a starburst lighting display.

Phil Goodman, Centre Manager at Glasgow Fort, said: “We are delighted to welcome this major retailer to Glasgow Fort. Its ranges of clothing and footwear will be very popular with our shoppers and be a welcome addition to our offering.”

This will be Footasylum’s 44th store.

Footasylum is the latest store to open at Glasgow Fort. In the past year it has welcomed Scotland’s first KIKO Milano beauty store, luggage retailer Antler, Italian restaurant Tony Macaroni and jeweller Pandora.

Work is currently underway on a new leisure quarter comprising four restaurants and a multi-storey car park and there are plans to upgrade the communal areas of the centre, as well as bring on board a host of further top brands.
